Manu Smadja
Emmanuel “Manu” Smadja is Co-founder and CEO of MPOWER Financing. Prior to MPOWER, Smadja spent nearly four years at McKinsey working with financial services firms and development and central banks across Africa, Europe, and the U.S.

His decision to co-found MPOWER in 2014 was inspired by his own financial struggles as an international student in the U.S. With a forward-looking credit model and loan product, MPOWER is enabling high-promise international and DACA students to pursue educations at top universities in the U.S. and Canada. In 5 years, MPOWER has grown from a concept to a 40+ person company with international offices, 370+ university partners, $100M+ in loan capital, and several industry awards including American Banker’s Top FinTech to work for.

Smadja holds an M.B.A. from INSEAD and an M.S. in Systems and Information Engineering, as well as a B.S. in Computer Science and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Virginia.
