Alex Sternhell draws upon an extensive set of relationships and expertise developed over nearly 15 years of Capitol Hill experience to help deliver insights on public policy issues to his clients. With a focus on financial services, Alex has been actively involved in legislation on banking, securities, insurance, housing finance and Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) among others. As Democratic Deputy Staff Director and Senior Policy Advisor for the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Sternhell played a key role in drafting and negotiating nearly every major piece of financial services legislation in the past decade, including Sarbanes-Oxley, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act and Gramm-Leach-Bliley. He also served as the Staff Director for the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Securities and Investment. Prior to moving to the Senate, Sternhell served in various capacities, including legislative liaison to the House Financial Services Committee and Legislative Director for four members of the House of Representatives.
