Hugh Edmundson
Managing PartnerTheorem
Hugh Edmundson is Theorem’s Cofounder and Managing Partner. He oversees all aspects of investment process, operations, and client relations. Hugh co-created Theorem’s initial underwriting algorithms and portfolio construction technologies, which substantially outperformed the marketplace lending index return. On Theorem’s investment committee, he continuously refines the underwriting approach and hires researchers, technologists, and investment engineers.

Hugh oversaw the firm’s initial growth and institutionalization, including establishing valuation methodology, middle and back offices practices, and compliance programs, which he continues to oversee with the CFO and management committee.

Prior to Theorem, Hugh worked on Morgan Stanley’s Credit Derivatives desk as a trader and structurer. At its peak, the Credit Derivatives group managed over $100 billion in assets. Hugh’s roles included managing the group’s single name credit default swap (CDS) exposure to all U.S. investment grade companies and structuring collateralized synthetic obligations (CSO) instruments. Hugh earned a BS in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
