Michael McLaughlin

Michael joined Macquarie in 2008 to lead the development of the credit markets business. His experience includes leading the principal trading desk, the sales and trading desk, the CMBS desk, debt capital markets, and the credit solutions group. He has over 20 years of in-depth experience across all credit markets – loans, bonds, ABS, and derivatives - and has managed global teams of sales, trading, structuring, and risk management professionals. In addition to these experiences, Michael served as the CEO and CIO of the Macquarie Credit Nexus Fund – a credit long / short hedge fund – from 2013-2015.

Prior to joining Macquarie, Michael worked at Banc of America Securities for 14 years where he was a founding member of the structured credit products team. He was Global Head of the Structured Securities Group in New York, and the EMEA Head of Asset Securitization and Investment Grade while on assignment in London.

In addition to presenting on topics covering credit and lending markets, derivatives, and financial innovation at numerous industry conferences, Michael has served as a guest lecturer at the Villanova School of Business, and at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Michael served as Macquarie’s US Country Head from 2012 to 2017. Michael currently serves on the US Management Committee, the Board of Directors of the Macquarie Group Foundation and as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of Villanova School of Business.

Michael received a BS from Villanova University, and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University.
